Some dogs are hard to have people around. Every visitor and every neighbor on a walk becomes something to manage.
You can read his owner’s full review on Google – everything below comes straight from their experience.
Where He Started
His owner describes him plainly. He was very reactive around people and other animals, and he was lacking in household manners. The review does not give his name, so we will not either.
Those two problems tend to feed each other. A dog without manners at home is hard to settle when someone new shows up. And a dog who reacts to people does not get many chances to practice manners anywhere else.
The Training Journey
He came to Off Leash K9 Training Amarillo and worked with Logan, one of our professional trainers. His owner calls Logan very nice and very professional, and says she was a big help.
The review also says who the progress belonged to: big steps “for my dog and me.” We like reading that. With a reactive dog, the person holding the leash is learning right along with him.
His Wins
His owner names two changes. He has manners now. And he is able to be around people without being reactive to them.
For a dog who started out very reactive around people, that second one is the big one. It is the difference between a dog who has to be put away when company comes and a dog who can stay in the room.
What Is Still in Progress
His owner is honest about what is not finished. They are still working on his reactivity around other animals. We would rather tell that part than leave it out. Reactivity toward people and reactivity toward animals are two pieces of work, and for him the first one came along sooner.
Why This Story Matters
Plenty of owners in Amarillo are living with a reactive dog and quietly arranging their days around it. This story is not about a dog who became perfect. It is about a dog who became easier to live with, and an owner who can say exactly what changed and what they are still working on. In the owner’s words, the training helped him “become a better dog.”
