Can you train my dog around livestock?
Yes! Many Bushland properties have chickens, goats, horses, or other animals. We specialize in teaching dogs to leave livestock alone through positive reinforcement and proper boundaries. This is critical for rural living and we have extensive experience with it throughout the Texas Panhandle.
What about aggressive dogs in Bushland?
We specialize in aggressive and reactive dogs. Whether your dog shows fence line aggression, territorial behavior around your property, dog-to-dog aggression, or fear-based aggression, we have the expertise to help. Learn more about our aggressive dog training program.
Do you train puppies in Bushland?
Yes! Puppy training is critical, especially for dogs who will live on acreage. We cover house training, socialization, property boundary awareness, basic obedience, and all the skills your Bushland puppy needs to thrive. Check out our puppy training program.
What is board and train, and is it worth it?
Board and train means your dog stays with our professional trainers for 2-4 weeks and receives intensive daily training. It's perfect for busy Bushland professionals, serious behavior issues, or when you need fast, guaranteed results without weekly time commitments. Is it worth it? Our clients overwhelmingly say yes. Learn more about board and train programs.
Can my Bushland dog become a therapy dog?
If your dog has a naturally calm, friendly temperament, absolutely! We evaluate temperament, provide advanced training, and prepare dogs for therapy dog certification. Amarillo hospitals, nursing homes, and schools all need therapy dogs. Learn about our therapy dog training program.
How long does dog training take?
It depends on your dog and goals. Basic obedience typically takes 4-8 weeks with weekly sessions. Behavior modification for aggression or reactivity may take 8-12 weeks. Board and train delivers results in 2-4 weeks. Puppy training is ongoing through the first 6 months, but you'll see progress within 2-3 weeks.
Do you train working breeds and ranch dogs?
Absolutely! Many Bushland residents have working breeds like German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, and cattle dogs. These breeds need structure, jobs, and boundaries. We understand working dogs and know how to channel their drive into productive behavior. We've trained countless working and ranch dogs throughout the Panhandle.
