FAQs
Canyon Dog Training FAQs
Do you really come to my Canyon home for training?
Yes! In-home, in-neighborhood training is our specialty. Whether you're near WTAMU campus, in a family neighborhood, or anywhere in Canyon, we come directly to you. Training in your actual environment produces better, faster, more lasting results than facility-based training.
How much does dog training cost in Canyon?
Our programs range from $800 (puppy training packages) to $4,500 (intensive board and train). Most Canyon clients invest $1,500-$2,500 for comprehensive training that solves their specific issues. Visit our detailed pricing page to see exactly what's included in each package and find the right fit for your budget and goals.
Can you help with aggressive dogs in Canyon?
Absolutely. We specialize in aggressive and reactive dogs—whether it's leash reactivity on walks near campus, territorial aggression at home, dog-to-dog aggression at parks, or fear-based aggression. We use proven behavior modification techniques that work. Learn more about our aggressive dog training program.
Do you train puppies in apartments?
Yes! Many WTAMU students and young professionals live in apartments, and puppies can absolutely thrive there with proper training. We customize puppy training for apartment living—house training without yard access, socialization in limited space, managing energy levels, and building confidence for city sounds and sights. Check out our puppy training program.
What is board and train?
Board and train means your dog stays with our professional trainers for 2-4 weeks and receives intensive daily training. It's perfect for busy Canyon professionals, serious behavior problems, or when you need fast, guaranteed results without weekly time commitments. Your dog comes home transformed. Learn more about board and train programs.
Can you prepare my dog for Palo Duro Canyon hiking?
Yes! We train dogs for reliable off-leash hiking, strong recall, wildlife impulse control ("leave it" for deer and rabbits), trail etiquette around other hikers and dogs, and confidence on challenging terrain. If you want to safely enjoy Palo Duro with your dog, we'll prepare them properly.
Can my Canyon dog become a therapy dog?
If your dog has a naturally calm, friendly temperament, absolutely! Canyon, Amarillo, and surrounding communities need therapy dogs for WTAMU campus stress relief programs, local nursing homes, schools, hospitals, and veterans facilities. We provide evaluation, training, and certification prep. Learn about our therapy dog training program.
How long does dog training take?
It depends on your dog and goals. Basic obedience typically takes 4-8 weeks with weekly sessions. Behavior modification for aggression may take 8-12 weeks. Board and train delivers results in 2-4 weeks. Puppy training is ongoing through the first 6 months, but you'll see significant progress within 2-3 weeks of starting.
Do you train all breeds and sizes?
Yes! We've successfully trained everything from tiny Chihuahuas in campus apartments to massive Great Danes in family homes, from German Shepherds to rescue mutts, from Border Collies to Bulldogs. Every dog can learn with the right approach, and we customize training for each individual dog.
