Every family that travels has the same question about the dog. Sydney’s family found a better answer than a kennel.
You can read Sydney’s full review on Google – everything below comes straight from her family’s experience.
Where Sydney Started
Sydney’s family was getting ready to travel overseas, and she needed somewhere to stay while they were gone. She also had some learning to do. There were basic commands she had simply never been taught.
That is a very ordinary place for a dog to be. A dog who has never been shown what sit, stay or come mean is not being difficult. Nobody has explained it to her yet.
The Training Journey
Instead of boarding her and coming home to the same dog, her family enrolled Sydney in a two-week board and train at Off Leash K9 Training Amarillo. She spent those two weeks with Rebecca, one of our professional trainers.
Board and train suits a trip like this well. The dog is cared for the whole time her family is away, and the days that would have been spent waiting are spent learning instead. The practice happens every day, in real situations, rather than once a week for an hour.
Sydney’s Wins
Her family names two things. Rebecca taught Sydney basic commands she never knew. And when they were back together, Sydney was able to walk along with them nicely.
That second one is the change most families feel first. A dog who walks beside you instead of pulling ahead of you is a dog who gets taken along more often.
What It Changed for Her Family
They left on a long trip knowing Sydney was being looked after, and they say so: they thanked Rebecca for taking care of her as well as for training her. They came home to a dog who knew more than when they left. The trip that could have been two weeks of worry turned into two weeks of progress.
Why Sydney’s Story Matters
A lot of families in Amarillo already pay to board a dog whenever they travel. Sydney’s story is a reminder that the same two weeks can do more. Her family did not have to find extra time for training. They used time they were going to be away anyway.
